The Bible is both a history of Israel and a prophetic book. The history of Israel begins with Adam, passes through Abraham and Moses, and reaches the time of the kingship. The kings of Israel and their reigns are recorded in detail in books such as 1 Kings. What is unusual, however, is that after Israel's liberation from Babylon, from about 450 BC to the time of Jesus, there is no record of the history of Israel. This is why most biblical scholars refer to this period as the Dark Ages. This is not true; God had Daniel write the history of this period, but we do not see it because it was sealed.

[Daniel 8:20~26] The two-horned ram that you saw represents the kings of Media and Persia. The shaggy goat is the king of Greece, and the large horn between his eyes is the first king. The four horns that replaced the one that was broken off represent four kingdoms that will emerge from his nation but will not have the same power. "In the latter part of their reign, when rebels have become completely wicked, a stern-faced king, a master of intrigue, will arise. He will become very strong, but not by his own power. He will cause astounding devastation and will succeed in whatever he does. He will destroy the mighty men and the holy people. He will cause deceit to prosper, and he will consider himself superior. When they feel secure, he will destroy many and take his stand against the Prince of princes. Yet he will be destroyed, but not by human power. "The vision of the evenings and mornings that has been given you is true, but seal up the vision, for it concerns the distant future."

God revealed to Daniel the history that would take place after Israel's liberation from Babylon and sealed it. If you look at the history of Israel after the liberation of Babylon, Israel was liberated from Babylon, but they were not able to achieve national independence and were ruled by Persia from 538 B.C. to 333 B.C. After the fall of Persia in 333 B.C., they were ruled by Alexander of Greece, and after Alexander's death, they were ruled by four states that broke away from Greece, and then they were subjected to religious persecution and genocide by Antiochus IV, the king of Syria, who came in 170 BC.

Outraged by this, however, Judah Maccabees rallied his people to an uprising, and three and a half years later he recaptured the Temple in Jerusalem. He used this opportunity to drive the Syrian army out of Israel and establish an independent Hasmonean state. This is the history of Israel after its liberation from Babylon. But because God spoke in parables about things to come, it seemed as if it was sealed.

[Daniel 12:9] He replied, "Go your way, Daniel, because the words are closed up and sealed until the time of the end.

The reason God sealed the history of Israel is to seal the history of spiritual Israel, beginning with Jesus.  The history of physical Israel is a type and shadow of what will happen to spiritual Israel, so studying their history gives us a vivid picture of what is to come. The history of Israel that was sealed after the liberation from Babylon is as follows..

1. the Persians invaded Babylon in 538 BCE and liberated it from Babylon, but were unable to achieve national independence, so Israel remained under Persian rule until 333 BCE.

2. In 333 BC Alexander the Great of Greece destroyed Persia, and Israel was ruled by Alexander the Great of Greece from this time to 323 BC.

3. after the death of Alexander in 323 B.C., Greece was divided into four states. From this point on, Israel was ruled by four states until 281 B.C.

4. ruled by Syria, founded by Seleucus, from 281 B.C. until religious persecution and massacres by Antiochus IV, who ascended the throne in 170 B.C..

5. In 167 BC, Maccabees of Judah led a popular uprising under Syrian oppression and recaptured the Temple of Jerusalem after 3 years and 6 months.

6. Beginning with the popular uprising of Judah Maccabi, the Syrian army was driven out of Israel, and around 140 BC Israel established an independent state called Hasmonia.

So how is the history of physical Israel fulfilled spiritually? The history of physical Israel, which began with David, reveals the history of spiritual Israel, which will begin with Joshua on David's throne. Just as David laid the foundation of the temple, Joshua on David's throne would lay the foundation of the temple through the twelve apostles. And the completion of the temple by David's son Solomon foreshadowed the early church to be built by Joshua's disciples. In other words, the early church is the same temple that Solomon completed. However, in the later years of the early church, pagan doctrines were absorbed and the church split into the Eastern and Western churches. However, this is a fulfillment of the prophecy that Solomon worshipped idols in his later years, which led to the division of Israel, which was one nation, into Israel in the north and Judah in the south.

After the division, northern Israel was destroyed by the Assyrians; however, this showed that the Western Church, built around Rome, would abandon the teachings of God and absorb pagan doctrines. Also, the destruction of southern Judah by Babylon prophesied the unification of the Eastern and Western Churches. The fallen Western Church used its power to forcibly absorb the Eastern Church and launched a new religious organization called Catholicism. However, this was a fulfillment of the prophecy of the destruction of southern Judah by Babylon and showed that just as Israel was taken captive by Babylon and lived as a servant in the land of Babylon, God's people would suffer by the Catholics who appeared and fulfilled the prophecy of Babylon. The Catholics killed many people through witch hunts and the Inquisition. Below you can see how Israel's history is fulfilled spiritually.

1) Just as David built the temple site, Yehoshua, who sat on the throne of David, laid the temple site called the 12 apostles.

2) Just as Solomon, the son of David, completed the temple, Yehoshua gave the Holy Spirit to the disciples and made the body of the saints the temple. And through them, the early church was established.

3) At the end of Solomon, the kingdom was divided into two kingdoms due to Solomon's idolatry. Likewise, when heresy was introduced at the end of the Early Church, it was divided into the Eastern Church, which was built around Jerusalem, and the Western Church, which was built around Rome.

4) Northern Israel continued to worship idols after division and kept God's feasts differently, and eventually they were destroyed by Assyria. Likewise, at the end of the early church, the divided Western church colluded with the Roman emperor and absorbed various pagan doctrines, and it was severely corrupted.

5) After division, Judah in the south practiced idolatry, but sometimes obeyed God's will and was protected from foreign invasion. But they were destroyed by Babylon because of the corruption of the priests and leaders. Likewise, the Eastern Church, which was divided at the end of the Early Church, sometimes obeyed the Word of God and kept its purity, but eventually it was merged with the Western Church and deteriorated greatly.

6) Northern Israel and Southern Judah were captured by Babylon and spent 70 years in captivity, and many became slaves. Likewise, after the Eastern and Western churches became one, they became pagans and started anew as a religious organization called Catholicism. As a result, many saints were killed by Catholic witch hunts and the Inquisition.

However, there are few records in the Bible from the liberation of Babylon to Joshua. But it was not because there was nothing, it was sealed through Daniel. The book of Daniel prophesied the history from the liberation of Babylon to the independence of Israel one after another, and God sealed the prophecy so that others could not see it. Therefore, if you know the history after the liberation of Babylon, you will know in detail what will happen at the end of the world.

After liberation from Babylon, Israel returned to the mainland to build a temple, but did not achieve national independence and was ruled by Persia from 537 BC to 333 BC. After the fall of Persia, the Greek Empire ruled over Israel, and after the fall of Greece, four Greek kingdoms divided into Greece continued to rule Israel. And Israel was subjected to religious oppression and slaughter by the Syrian king Antiochus IV, who appeared in 170 BC. However, angered by this, Maccabees of the tribe of Judah raised the people, drove out the Syrian army, and established an independent state called the Hasmonia dynasty. This is the history of Israel after the liberation of Babylon. Therefore, the prophecy and the fulfillment of the prophecy can be summarized as follows.

7) With the help of the Medes and Persians, Israel was liberated from the Babylonian captivity and returned to the mainland to build a temple. However, this prophesied the destruction of Catholicism represented by Babylon. For over a thousand years, Catholicism has killed and harassed tens of millions of people through the Inquisition and witch hunts. As such, the fall of Babylon by the Medes and Persians showed that the evil deeds of Catholicism would be put to an end by Reformers such as Luther and Calvin. The Reformation freed many believers from Catholicism and allowed them to join Protestantism in search of freedom of faith. However, this fulfilled the prophecy that Israel was not independent but was under Persian rule.

8) Israel was ruled by the Persian Empire for 200 years before being ruled by Alexander the Great, who destroyed Persia in 333 BC. However, this shows that believers absorbed into Protestantism after the Reformation will be disappointed and leave Protestantism. Many Protestants zealously followed the Adventist ideas of William Miller, which emerged in 1834. During the decade, he had gathered numerous followers across Europe and America, but his proposed date for the Second Coming of Joshua failed. The event wasted and damaged many people's property, fulfilling the prophecy that Alexander would rule Israel after Persia.

9) When Alexander the Great died at a young age, Greece was divided into four kingdoms, and Israel was ruled by those kingdoms; however, this represents a prophecy that would take place after William Miller. Those who were disappointed with Miller were absorbed into the Seventh-day Adventists, Jehovah's Witnesses, and legalistic churches, which were churches that followed Miller's ideas. However, this was a fulfillment of prophecy that predicted that after the death of Alexander the Great, physical Israel would be ruled once again.

10) Although the four divided kingdoms of Greece continued to dominate Israel, Israel was eventually slaughtered by the religious oppression of Antiochus IV, king of Syria, who appeared in 170 BC. However, this prophesied the church that would appear after the Adventists, Jehovah's Witnesses, and the legalistic church of the Old Testament. Like Antiochus IV, this church will oppress God's people and set up idols so that the saints will serve them.

11) Maccabeus, a man of the tribe of Judah, was angered by the religious oppression of Antiochus IV, so he led a popular uprising among the people and fought the Syrians. And they drove the Syrians out of Israel. But this was prophesied about the two witnesses who received Joshua's Holy Spirit, who came as messengers from the tribe of Judah. The two witnesses will fulfill the prophecy of Antiochus IV and fight the church that appears. Just as the Maccabees recaptured the Jerusalem temple in three and a half years, the two witnesses will build the heavenly temple in three and a half years.

12) A popular uprising by the Maccabees of Judah drove the Syrian army out of Israel and established the independent Hasmonite dynasty, but this prophesied the coming of the kingdom of God after the two witnesses.. .

The Bible is divided into the Old Testament and the New Testament, with the Book of Daniel sealed in the Old Testament and the Book of Revelation sealed in the New Testament. The book of Daniel is sealed with the history of physical Israel and the book of Revelation is sealed with the history of spiritual Israel, so the prophecies of Revelation cannot be known until the seals of Daniel are unsealed. If you do not know the prophecies of Daniel, you cannot know the spiritual work of God.

[Revelation 22:10~11] Then he told me, "Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this book, because the time is near.Let him who does wrong continue to do wrong; let him who is vile continue to be vile; let him who does right continue to do right; and let him who is holy continue to be holy."
