In Revelation 7, we see that of the 12 tribes of Israel, the tribe of Dan is excluded. The commonly known Israel consists of 12 tribes because the nation was founded on the basis of Jacob's 12 sons. However, according to biblical evidence, Jacob adopted the two sons of his 11th son, Joseph, as his adopted sons and gave Joseph two branches, making him the 13th tribe. However, since God only recognizes 12 tribes, one tribe is bound to be excluded in spiritual terms. This is why Yehoshua gathered 12 disciples to represent the 12 tribes of spiritual Israel. When we look at the 12 tribes of Israel analogized to the 144000 in Revelation 7, the tribe of Dan is left out, and many Bible scholars have various interpretations as to why Dan is left out. Dan, the 5th son of Jacob, was a man of great strength and upright character, and Jacob makes the following prophecy to Dan before he dies.

[Genesis49:16~17] "Dan will provide justice for his people as one of the tribes of Israel. dan will be a serpent by the roadside, a viper along the path, that bites the horse's heels so that its rider tumbles backward.

Jacob compared Dan and his descendants to vipers and snakes. In the Bible, snakes are a metaphor for Satan, and the reason Dan is described this way is because of what his descendants would do. The 12 tribes of Israel conquered the land of Canaan with Joshua, but the tribe of Dan did not. The land inherited by the Danites was inhabited by the Amorites, a people armed with iron weapons, whom the Danites were unable to conquer easily and were eventually driven into the desolate mountains.

[Judges 1:34] The Amorites confined the Danites to the hill country, not allowing them to come down into the plain.

The Danites were looking for land because they hadn't gotten any land to live on until the days of the Judges, and the place they moved to in search of a settlement was a place called Lyss, and the place they stayed for a while before they went there was the house of a man named Micah in the mountains of Ephraim, and Micah worshipped silver-covered images, and Dribim and Ebot, and the Danites took the idols that Micah worshipped and worshipped them as their own gods.

[Judges 18:1~30] In those days Israel had no king. And in those days the tribe of the Danites was seeking a place of their own where they might settle, because they had not yet come into an inheritance among the tribes of Israel...(13)From there they went on to the hill country of Ephraim and came to Micah's house. Then the five men who had spied out the land of Laish said to their brothers, "Do you know that one of these houses has an ephod, other household gods, a carved image and a cast idol? Now you know what to do."...(30) There the Danites set up for themselves the idols, and Jonathan son of Gershom, the son of Moses, and his sons were priests for the tribe of Dan until the time of the captivity of the land. They continued to use the idols Micah had made, all the time the house of God was in Shiloh.

The tribe of Dan was the first of the 12 tribes of Israel to turn to idolatry, fearing that their God-given land of Canaan would be taken away from them, they turned to idolatry as they searched for a new home, which lasted until the destruction of northern Israel by the Assyrians in 700 BC. Jacob described the tribe of Dan as vipers, snakes, etc., which is a metaphor for the Antichrist, who opposes God by setting up idols, and that's exactly what the tribe of Dan did.

Thus, the exclusion of the tribe of Dan from the twelve tribes of spiritual Israel was due to idolatry. The tribe of Dan was unable to fully occupy the portion of the land of Canaan that was given to them out of fear, and their wandering in the land led to idolatry, which is a lesson for us in the end times.

[Revelation 21:8] But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars--their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death."
