Familial Control Within WMSCOG

Like most cults, the World Mission Society Church of God (WMSCOG) is also controlled by the relatives of its leader and the General Assembly Chairman. This structure suggests that there are many secrets they wish to conceal.

Jang Gil-ja, who is worshiped as "God the Mother" within WMSCOG, was appointed to this position in 1985 after the death of the founder Ahn Sang-hong, by Kim Joo-cheol (the current chairman) and his relatives. According to WMSCOG’s 1985 meeting records, Jang Gil-ja was elected as "God the Mother" through a majority vote.

Family Ties Between Jang Gil-ja and Kim Joo-cheol

Most members are unaware that Jang Gil-ja and Kim Joo-cheol are closely related by family ties.

• In Jang Gil-ja's husband's family, there was a woman named Kim ○○, who was the cousin of her husband Kim Jae-hoon.
• Jang Gil-ja introduced this woman to Kim Joo-cheol, and they got married, establishing an uncle-in-law and nephew-in-law relationship.
• Additionally, key church positions are held by Jang Gil-ja’s younger brother, younger sister, son, and daughter, as well as Kim Joo-cheol’s older sister and older brother.

Privatization of the Church and Financial Secrecy

The WMSCOG leadership is composed of Kim Joo-cheol, Jang Gil-ja, and their relatives, along with some board members who have become in-laws through marriage.

This structure strongly suggests a family-run operation, which could lead to the privatization of the church.

• The estimated assets of WMSCOG exceed 5 trillion KRW (approximately 3.8 billion USD).
• However, members have no knowledge of how these funds are being used.
• Most members are completely unaware that the church is run by the families of Kim Joo-cheol and Jang Gil-ja.

 These revelations raise serious concerns about financial transparency and organizational integrity within WMSCOG.
