Hapimo, a Church of God victims' organization, and its members have filed two charges against Kim Joo-cheol of the Church of God. The first was for religious fraud and the second for violating copyright law. The accusations were dismissed with the following stunts. Church of God members and leavers are encouraged to judge for themselves the truthfulness of these responses.

1. Religious Fraud

1)Reason for accusation: The Church of God recruited members by preaching apocalyptic theories in 1988, 1999, and 2012, and cheated them out of approximately 700 billion won ($850 million). (Evidence: various court judgments)

Notes: 700 billion won is a minimum estimate and will change to 3 trillion as more victims join.

The Church of God's defense: The Church of God is not calling for the end of the world. The Church of God has 3 million members, and if they all contribute $10,000 a month, that's $30 billion, $300 billion in a year, and $3 trillion in 10 years. Since the Church of God has only been around since 1964, that's a very small amount of money, so the claim that the Church of God extorts money through apocalypticism is false.

Notes: The actual attendance of the Church of God is estimated to be 50,000 members in 2023 in Korea.

2. Violation of copyright law

1)Reason for accusation: Kim Joo-cheol of the Church of God stole the works of several publishers and produced a booklet called <Certain Evidence> and sold it to his followers for 10,000 to 15,000 won per copy. If we calculate the amount of money sold since the first edition was published, he made at least tens of billions of won in unfair profits.

Response from the Church of God: While it is true that the Church of God has infringed on copyright without authorization, Mr. Kim has no knowledge of any such tracts being produced or sold. It is the responsibility of other departments to produce hard evidence, and it has nothing to do with Mr. Kim. Furthermore, the Church of God has never sold tracts to its members for money. The tracts were given away for free to those who preached, but we understand that some members gave a small donation to the church as a thank you.
