The protests by the Church of God victims' group revealed that much of what the Church of God had promoted was false, and outraged local citizens. To prevent the protests from becoming public knowledge, the Church of God applied to the court for an injunction to shut down the victims' group's website, which was denied.

The church then blocked the protesters' message as best they could. Dozens of churchgoers surrounded the protesters and prevented the public from seeing the content of the banner. Many citizens were dumbfounded by their ridiculous behavior.

One citizen admitted that they were a cult, based on what they were doing.
