A South Korean court has issued a ruling in the Church of God apocalyptic fraud case, revealing how they amassed their fortune. According to the ruling, the Church of God incited believers by preaching that 1988, 1999, and 2012 would be the end of the world. The court also gave its opinion on the size of the Church of God's fortune and how it was formed. According to the ruling, "The Church of God's property, including its temples and appurtenances, is estimated to be in the trillions, and the source of this property is ultimately derived from the offerings of Plaintiff's congregation. Members of the Church of God may feel uneasy listening to a doctrinally authoritative minister who preaches a doomsday doctrine, and there is a causal connection between that uneasiness and the expansion of the Church of God and the accumulation of the Church of God's wealth through members' offerings and dedications of property. The evidence does not wholly negate this causal connection."
