The World Mission Society of the Church of God (formerly known as the Ahnsahnghong Witness Church of God) has been conducting intensive proselytizing activities targeting married women, prompting claims that preventive measures are urgently needed.

The Church of God Victims' Action Committee (Hapimo) and the Church of God Leavers' Group held a press conference at a restaurant in Seocho-gu, Seoul, on Sept. 9, saying, "The Church of God is a religious group that advocates time-limited eschatology and targets women in their 20s and 40s who are members of the Orthodox Church and have children." "The Church of God is more dangerous than its members because it teaches an addictive, time-bound eschatology," Kang said, adding that children and women who fall into it run away and get divorced. "The Church of God is so closed and centralized that you have to be fingerprinted to get in, so it causes much more damage than other cults," he added.

"The Church of God has continued to expand to 400 churches and 200,000 members in 1988, 1999, and 2012 with its time-bound eschatology," said Woo Jong-hyun, a former pastor of the Daegu Church of God, "and has accumulated a fortune of 3 to 4 trillion won." "The Church of God targets homes with church membership cards and children's laundry when conducting evangelism, so it is better to avoid people who remove the cards and approach two-by-two as 'baby mama next door,'" the two organizations said. The Church of God, a religious group that believes in Ahnsahnghong, who died in 1985, as "God the Father" and Jang Gil-ja as "God the Mother," is considered a heresy by major denominations.
