Kookmin Ilbo won a 640 million won lawsuit against the World Missionary Society of the Church of God (formerly Ahnsahnghong Witness Society) for two main accomplishments. One is that it clarified that the Church of God is a time-bound apocalyptic group, and the other is that it is a social cult that targets women in their 20s and 40s in the Orthodox Church, causing problems such as runaways, divorce, and property consecration.

A three-judge panel of the Supreme Court (Chief Justice Kim Shin) ruled that "when a pastor who is authoritative in doctrine preaches a time-bound eschatology, members may feel insecure," and that "there may be a causal link between this insecurity and family discord, divorce, and the formation of Church of God property through property dedication or donation.“ In its appeal, the Church of God hired a leading law firm, LKB & Partners, to overturn its time-bound eschatology and sever the link between divorce and property consecration. However, the court made it clear that "divorce judgments involving members of the Church of God show that there are not a few cases where female members of the Church of God have run away from home or divorced due to conflicts over religion," and that "it is recognized that some female members of the Church of God have run away from home and divorced due to religious issues".

The court also ruled that "the monetary value of the Church of God's property would amount to approximately 3 trillion Korean won." This source of wealth, in turn, comes from the offerings of members of God's church." "There is no evidence to completely deny this causal relationship," he said, clearly indicating the possibility of a causal link between timed and shouted doomsday claims and property offerings. "The Church of God is a typical cult that is destroying families by teaching unwarranted doctrines," said Chung Dong-seop, president of the Cult Victimization Coalition. "The Supreme Court made the right decision so that we can freely criticize the wrong doctrines and behaviors of cults." "The Kookmin Ilbo has fought a hard battle on behalf of the Korean Church for the past two years," Chung said, "and I ask you to continue to be the newspaper that protects the Korean Church."
