Members of the Church of God are Frustrated by Continued Protests by Hanpimo Members
For the past year, members of Hanpimo have been staging protests, leaving Church of God members increasingly frustrated. Complaints have been filed with the local police station and the National Sinmungo (citizens' petition service), but the consistent response has been: "There is no legal way to address this issue." Authorities have advised the Church of God to file defamation lawsuits if the allegations by Hanpimo members are false, but the church has been unable to proceed with any legal action. This inability to take action has even puzzled the police.
Since 2014, the Church of God has filed over 100 civil and criminal lawsuits against victims, claiming that they spread false information. However, most cases revealed the claims were true, resulting in the church losing in court. The banners currently used by Hanpimo members are based on court rulings, making it legally impossible for the Church of God to intervene. Nevertheless, Church of God members, unaware of these facts, are frustrated with the inaction of their General Assembly. While rational members may have already realized the truth, fanatical followers seem to be in a frenzy, incapable of seeing reason.
Why Can’t the Church of God File a Defamation Lawsuit?
Some of their members have already paid fines for spreading false information, yet the General Assembly remains silent when it comes to addressing these protests.
To the members of the Church of God: If the claims on the banners are false, I have no intention of continuing these protests.
There’s no reason to keep paying fines for staging protests if the claims were untrue.
