The Church of God and the Jesus Witnesses claim that the prophecy in Isaiah 25 refers to the scene where Jesus kept the Passover with the 12 apostles, but their claim is an ignorant assertion based on a lack of understanding of the Bible.
The prophecy in Isaiah 25 is connected to the prophecy in Revelation 21:1, so it is important not only to study Isaiah 25 but also to study Revelation 21. Isaiah 25 can be divided into three main parts:
The Bible shows that Paul testified in 1 Corinthians 15:54 that the prophecy in Isaiah 25 will be fulfilled at the final resurrection. Likewise, in Revelation 21, the same prophecy as in Isaiah 25 is recorded. Revelation 20 prophesies the resurrection, and Revelation 21 shows what will occur after the resurrection. This prophecy can also be divided into three parts:
Revelation 21:2: "I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband..."
Revelation 21:4: "He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away..."
Revelation 21:6: "To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life. Those who are victorious will inherit all this..."
The Zion Mountain prophesied in Isaiah 25 refers to the heavenly city of Jerusalem. The long-stored fine wine refers to the water of life, that is, God’s word. God’s word can only be spoken by those who receive the Holy Spirit, so the fine wine and the water of life symbolize the Holy Spirit. Therefore, those who have received the Holy Spirit will no longer experience death and will walk with God, which is why they will be cleansed of sorrow and tears. While God’s kingdom is in heaven, it is also within us. Therefore, those who have the Holy Spirit are partaking in God’s feast, becoming the heavenly Jerusalem, Zion, and are the resurrected saints. Those who have received the Holy Spirit and are reborn as God’s temple have also fulfilled the prophecy of the spiritual Feast of Tabernacles, and thus, the giving of the Holy Spirit (water of life, wine) is described as a grand feast.
