The World Mission Society Church of God (WMSCOG) teaches that its founder, Ahn Sahng-hong, was baptized in 1948 within the Seventh-day Adventist Church. This claim forms a core theological basis for the church, as it ties to the prophecy of the fig tree, which symbolizes the independence of Israel in 1948. The church teaches its members that the Second Coming Christ must be baptized at the age of 30, fulfilling David's prophecy, and asserts that Ahn Sahng-hong is the Second Coming Christ who fulfilled this requirement.
Furthermore, the church preaches that because Jesus was crucified without completing His 3-year gospel ministry, the Second Coming Christ must come to fulfill the remaining 37 years of gospel work. Based on this doctrine, they teach that Ahn Sahng-hong was baptized at the age of 30, completed 37 years of ministry, and passed away in 1985.
All members of the WMSCOG believe in these teachings and regard Ahn Sahng-hong as God. Because they believe Ahn Sahng-hong is the Second Coming Christ and the High Priest Melchizedek, members are taught that it is their religious duty to pay tithes and various offerings to him.
However, according to the official records of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Ahn Sahng-hong was baptized not in 1948 but in 1954 by Pastor Kim Seok-young in Haeundae District. This fact contradicts the teachings of the WMSCOG and undermines the logical foundation used to lead members to believe in the doctrine of the Second Coming Christ.
After consulting legal experts on this matter, it was determined that there is a strong basis for a fraud allegation. The key points of the fraud are as follows:
Deceptive Claim:
The assertion that Ahn Sahng-hong was baptized in 1948, which is demonstrably false, was used to convince members to believe in the doctrine of the Second Coming Christ.
Financial Loss:
Members, based on this false teaching, paid tithes and offerings.
Causation:
Members were led to believe Ahn Sahng-hong was the Second Coming Christ due to the church's teachings, which directly resulted in financial loss.
The statute of limitations for fraud is generally 10 years. Unfortunately, as I have been out of the church for 15 years, I cannot act as the primary victim in this case.
I am seeking individuals who have left the church within the past 10 years and who have personally paid tithes or offerings under the belief that Ahn Sahng-hong is the Second Coming Christ. If you are willing to cooperate, I ask for your assistance in preparing a written statement including the following:
These written statements will be submitted as evidence in a legal case. If additional testimony is required during the investigation, you may need to provide a statement to the authorities regarding your experience. Once we gather statements from at least three individuals, I will proceed with the filing of the complaint.
If you are interested in participating, please contact me through this channel to express your willingness. I will handle the legal process and evidence collection as your representative. Together, we can work toward uncovering the truth and addressing the financial and spiritual harm caused by these teachings.
Thank you for your support and cooperation.
