I married Jang Gil-ja (currently the leader of the Ahn Sahng-hong Witnesses) in 1966. We had two children and lived happily until I was evangelized by an elder named No from Busan, which led me to attend the World Mission Society Church of God. They claimed to restore the faith of the apostolic age and zealously observed seven feasts starting from the Passover. I was told that I had become an evangelist.
While working overseas, upon returning home, I found that my wife had changed completely. Under the pretense of obeying God's word, she neglected the family, abandoned household duties to me, and unilaterally disposed of the house we had painstakingly acquired abroad, dedicating it to the leader Ahn Sahng-hong. She blindly obeyed the leader’s words and paid no attention to mine. I repeatedly urged her kindly to be faithful to the family and diligent in church matters, but she ignored me and unilaterally demanded a divorce. Each time, I asked her gently to reconsider, but she tormented me by insisting that divorce was God's will.
Under the guise of evangelizing, she frequently traveled with leader Ahn Sahng-hong alone for more than a week to the provinces. While two women traveling together might be understandable, who could accept a man and woman going alone together?
Unable to bear it any longer, I agreed to the divorce. Losing money, wife, and children, I plunged into despair and became physically and mentally weak. No one comforted my painful wounds. Due to this, I suffered liver cirrhosis and multiple complications. Despite repeatedly facing near death alone in a boarding house, I could not give up because of my children. After some recovery, I visited the children repeatedly, warning them, “The path you are following is wrong.” But each time, they refused, saying that their mother told the church members “your father is dead,” and they felt awkward if I showed up.
After divorcing me, my wife immediately married Ahn Sahng-hong and was recognized in the church as “God’s bride.” Can this behavior—marrying a living leader, taking pictures to show church members, and calling herself the bride—be acknowledged by the holy God as righteous? Can they confidently claim that what they believe is truth? Whenever I hear this, anger boils up inside me. I wanted to go to the church and expose everything in front of the members, but I restrained myself for the sake of my children. Because of this, I suffered from severe insomnia and nervous breakdowns, traveling from one prayer center to another trying to overcome the pain, but nothing could heal my broken heart.
Now, my prayer is that the people of the World Mission Society Church of God, who shout that the world will end in 1988, will no longer be deceived, and will quickly return to the true God to save their lives.
